Dear family, friends, and acquaintances of Irene,

On Sunday May 3rd, Irene finished her earthly journey. She died quietly in the early morning hours not far from her childhood home after almost 96 years. She finished with the love of her family.

She is no longer alone. She has joined an eternal community. She waits now for the resurrection of the dead so that she can join all the people of God. We're waiting to see her that day.

It's okay to grieve Irene's passing. She would also want us to pray the words of her confirmation psalm:

"Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge."

May you too take refuge in Irene's God.

Here a couple of highlights from Irene's life with God.

Irene was almost a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church. She was baptized on August 24, 1930. She publicly confessed her faith and was recognized on July 22, 1949 through the process of confirmation. She went away for short times over the years to Saginaw or Georgia but always came back to Peace.

Mary joined the people of God on earth through baptism on September 18, 2015. She followed up with a public profession of her faith and confirmation on April 20, 2016. She was well loved by her fellow Christians at Peace, in large part because she loved others. She sent many cards and texts to encourage and support people all the time. We were all happy to hear from her. She added a little joy to all the Bible studies, services, and gatherings she attended.

Please pray for Mary’s family

Lord Jesus, by your victory over death you have opened the way to eternal life for all of us. Comfort Mary’s family in their loss. Let their grief empty their souls of pain, hurt, and disappointment. Fill them up with new life. Renew their joy each morning. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
